# How can we set up SMS messaging for guest communication in Autohost?
To set up SMS messaging for guest communication in Autohost, follow these steps:
1. Navigate to Message Templates: Go to Guest Portal \> Messages \> Message Templates in the Autohost dashboard.
2. Create a new SMS template:
- If you're having issues modifying an existing template, create a new one.
- Select "SMS" as the medium when creating the new message.
3. Compose your message:
- Keep it under 420 characters.
- Use appropriate tags (e.g., , , , , , , ).
- Avoid HTML and text formatting.
- Format the message like an SMS, not an email.
4. Save the new template.
5. Enable the new SMS template: Activate the newly created SMS template.
6. Disable the old template: If you're replacing an existing template, make sure to deactivate the old one.
7. Set timing rules: Update the timing rules for your SMS messages to ensure they are sent at appropriate times.
8. Test the template: Send a test message to ensure it works correctly.
