How do I customize the Guest Portal screen flow?

Learn how to customize your Guest Portal flow by overriding screens.

In your Autohost account, you can customize the Guest Portal screens at four different setting levels:

  1. Global Settings (Default)

  2. Listing-Level Settings

  3. Source-Level Settings

  4. Reservation-Level Settings

  5. Advanced Settings

Global Settings (Default)

The Guest Portal screens can be customized by risk colour (green, yellow, orange, red). For example, guests with a red risk score might go through more rigorous screening than guests with a green risk score.

This screen configuration will be your default Guest Portal flow.

Listing Level Settings

The Guest Portal flow can also be configured at the listing level. This allows you to override the global (default) settings in your "Listings" tab. That means guests who book this property listing will go through the Guest Portal, according to the flow you've set in your listing settings.

Activation Steps:

1. On Autohost, open the desired listing and click on the gear icon to access the settings.


2. Once here, click the dropdown menu beside each screen name. Proceed to select one of the following settings: "default", "required" or "disabled".


Default: This is the default setting; it will be pulled from whatever you have set in your global (screen) settings.

Required: This will add the selected screen to your Guest Portal flow for reservations attached to this listing, overriding whatever you have set up in your global settings.

Disable: This will remove the selected screen from your Guest Portal flow for reservations attached to this listing, overriding whatever you have set up in your global settings.

Source Level Settings

With source settings, you can adjust your Guest Portal flow according to the booking source of the reservation. (E.g. For Airbnb guests, you can make certain screens "disabled" or "required.")

Note: These configurations will override your listing settings.

Here's how to do it:

1. Go through Guest Portal > Sources, then click to "add booking source."  


2. At this point, you'll see a new source has been added. Click on the three dots at the right-hand side.


4. Within the options below, click to "rename" the source. Add the name of the booking source you wish to configure.


IMPORTANT NOTE: Make sure to write the booking source name exactly as it appears in the "Reservations" tab (i.e. correct spelling, capitalization and punctuation), otherwise, your reservations will not be pulled from this source.

5. Once you've named the source, you can go ahead and "configure" it based on your internal business practices. As shown above, you can choose to keep a screen as default, or change it to required or disabled.


Reservation Level Settings

For a super customized flow, you can even edit the Guest Portal screens at a reservation level. This might come in handy for a returning guest or a friend/family member of an employee.

Note: These configurations will override your source settings.

Here's how to do it:

1. Under the "Details" section of your reservation, click on the gear icon to access the settings.


2. From there, you'll be able to update the Guest Portal screens accordingly. 

Advanced Settings

Overriding Screens

While you can customize the Guest Portal via different settings, certain settings will override others.

For example: If a green risk score reservation is not required to go through ID verification, but the guest booked via, where you have a source configured to "require" ID verification, the guest will still see the ID verification screen.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The order of override priority is as follows: Global settings < Listing settings < Source settings < Reservation settings.

Remember to consider this order when configuring your Guest Portal screens.
