ID Verification Screen

Learn how to configure the 'ID Verification' screen in the Guest Portal

ID Verification in Autohost is designed to protect against fraud by verifying the identity of every guest entering your property. Guests are required to provide a photo of their government-issued ID and a selfie with their ID for biometric verification. This process ensures that the person booking the reservation is who they claim to be, adding an extra layer of security to your property.

Configuring ID Verification Settings

Setting up ID Verification in Autohost is a straightforward process. Here’s how you can do it:

  1. Navigate to the ID Verification Section:

    • Go to Guest Portal > Screens > ID Verification.

      GP - SCREENS
  2. Enable ID Verification:

    • Toggle the ID Verification option ON to enable it for your guests.
  3. Configure ID Verification Settings:

    • Customize the settings based on your requirements. You may wish to exclude particular types of ID documents from being submitted, adjust requirements based on the guest being an Airbnb guest, or turn on "Liveness" selfie check where a guest must do a live submission of their face rather than being allowed to upload an image.

Handling ID Verification Issues

Despite the robust ID Verification process, there may be instances where guests encounter issues. Here’s how to handle common problems:

  1. ID Upload Issues:

    • Common Problems: Low-resolution images, improperly framed documents, glare.
    • Solutions: Encourage reattempts, provide camera permission guides, adjust failed upload attempts.
  2. Handling Failed ID Uploads:

    • Process: Manual review of the most recent upload if quality is insufficient.
    • Property Manager Role: Examine guest details and compare ID photo with the selfie.
  3. Questions about ID Validity:

    • Expired IDs: Accepted but flagged for review.
    • No ID Upload: Approval or decline at the property manager's discretion.
    • Missing ID Pieces: Approval or decline at the property manager's discretion.
