Why are guests having issues uploading information (ID and Selfie images) on Autohost?

Guests may encounter difficulties when uploading their ID and selfie images on Autohost due to several factors. Here are the common reasons and solutions:

  1. Camera Permission Issues
    • Problem: The browser does not allow access to the device's camera.
    • Solution:
      • Open the link in a different browser (e.g., Firefox or Chrome).
      • When prompted, click "Allow" to give the system permission to use the camera.
  2. ID Verification Failures
    • Problems:
      • Low-resolution images
      • The document doesn't fit properly into the frame
      • Glare on the image
    • Solutions:
      • Ensure good lighting and use a high-quality camera
      • Position the ID to fit entirely within the frame
      • Avoid reflective surfaces and direct light sources when taking the photo
    • Note: If a guest continues to have issues uploading their ID, the system will allow them to skip this process after two failed attempts by clicking the skip button. If the guest is allowed to skip the process, the reservation will be flagged for Review so you may conduct any required follow up steps.
  3. Network Errors
    • Problem: "Network error" or "API Error" messages often indicate that the connection to the website/API was interrupted during file upload or form submission.
    • Causes:
      • Weak WiFi signal
      • Weak cellular reception
      • Device switching between cell towers or between WiFi and cellular
    • Solution:
      • Refresh the page and try again
      • Ensure a stable internet connection before attempting the upload

  2. Ensure good lighting when taking photos of ID or selfies.
  3. Grant camera permissions when prompted by the browser.
