You can use your own Twilio API key to send messages with RCS support
For finer control over your brand, you may connect Autohost to your own Twilio account.
Advantages of using your own Twilio account:
- Negotiate your rates with Twilio directly.
- Send branded messages using RCS.
- Choose your own sender number.
Sending SMS using Twilio
Follow the steps to send SMS messages using your own Twilio account:
- Log in to the dashboard and go to Settings > Stargate.
- Scroll down to the Stargate SMS section.
- Enter the following information:
- Account SID (your unique account ID)
- API Secret Key (the API key)
- Number (the sender number to use, in international format)
- Click Save.
Testing SMS
You should always test that SMS message are sent after making changes. Here's how you can do it:
- Go to Guest Portal > Messages.
- Expand any of the existing templates that use SMS.
- Click on the TEST button below the message editor.
The test SMS message will be sent to the phone number configured in Settings > Company > Phone.
RCS Business Messaging
Rich Communication Services (RCS) is a modern messaging protocol that features branded messaging.
Follow these steps to enable RCS:
- Log in to the dashboard and go to Settings > Stargate.
- Scroll down to the Stargate SMS section.
- Enter the following information:
- Account SID (your unique account ID)
- API Secret Key (the API key)
- Messaging Service SID (to find your Messaging Service's SID, check the Sid column on the Messaging Services page in the Twilio Console.)
- Click Save.
- You should not enter a sender phone number when entering a Messaging Service SID.
- Twilio will need to verify your account before you can start using this service.
